WoW Deepstar Aurelid Carry Explained

The Deepstar Aurelid mount drops from Hirukon in the Dimensional Falls in Zereth Mortis. However, it is not a guaranteed drop, and you will need to take a few steps to improve your chances of obtaining it.

Obtain Strange Goop

The first step is to fish up Strange Goop from Hirukon’s waters. This is a very rare chance, so you may need to be patient and keep trying until you get it.

Obtain the ingredients for the Aurelid Lure

Once you have Strange Goop, take it to Baroness Vashj, who can make you an Aurelid Lure for Hirukon. To create the lure, you will need to obtain the following ingredients:

Pungent Blobfish: This is fished up from a Pungent Blobfish Cluster inside Coilfang Reservoir at /way #102 52.2 37.9.
Flipper Fish: This is obtained by fishing up a Flipper Fish from a Flipper Fish School in Zin-Azshari, Nazjatar at /way #1355 72.8 24.3. The fish will immediately “slip away” and summon a Flipper Fish that must be caught by clicking on it to get the final item.
Coilclutch Vine: This is obtained from a Coilclutch Vine in Nar’shola Terrace, Shimmering Expanse at /way #205 34.7 75.0. The vine is located on the balcony of a tower on the second level of ruins and can be difficult to spot.

Make the Aurelid Lure

Once you have the ingredients, return them to Baroness Vashj, and she will turn them into an Aurelid Lure. Despite what the use effect says, right-clicking the Aurelid Lure will consume it and apply the Aurelid Lure buff to you.

Find the Aurelid Cluster

The Aurelid Lure buff will allow you to see an Aurelid Cluster to fish in at /way #1970 51.86 74.31. It is here that you will trigger Hirukon on a successful fish.

Defeat Hirukon

When Hirukon emerges, defeat him for a seemingly guaranteed drop of the Deepstar Polyp.
