Penitent Difficulty is a super hard level in Diablo 4. Before, you had to be level 50 to play it. Now, in Season 6, you can start it right away at level 1 if you’ve finished the main game or skipped the campaign.

New Difficulty Names in Diablo 4 Vessel of hatred
Blizzard changed the names of the first four difficulty levels:
- Normal — Used to be World Tier I
- Hard — Used to be World Tier II
- Expert — Used to be World Tier III
- Penitent — Used to be World Tier IV
There are 8 levels in total. The toughest four are called Torment 1 – 4.
Changes to Monsters in Diablo 4 Vessel of hatred
Monsters now get stronger in the Torment difficulties (Torment 1 – 4). Their attacks are faster, more accurate, and tougher, but this only happens in Torment.

- You get more experience from special chests and bosses as the difficulty goes up.
- In Torment, magic and rare items will disappear automatically. You will only get Legendary, Unique, or Mythic items!
