Yes, just like in the Legacy Version, you can acquire one Chaos Orb by trading full sets of gear with NPC vendors. Following valuable items of levels 60 – 74 must be acquired and placed in a trade window while talking with a vendor to acquire Chaos Orbs:

1. Two one-handed weapons (or one two-handed weapon or two shields);
2. Helmet;
3. Body armor;
4. Gloves;
5. Boots;
6. Two rings;
7. Amulet;
8. Belt.

One Chaos Orb will be given to you for such a vendor recipe exchange. Two Chaos Orbs if the full set is identified. Go figure how much time it’ll take you to farm your first 100 Chaos Orbs. Considering developers’ fixation on different valuable currencies – yes, there will be some sort of a currency strongbox, just under a different name. Absolutely. Crafting is a viable option, but not the most efficient one. You’ll use the very same vendor trade system described above – craft a complete set of 60 – 74 level rare equipment and trade it for one Chaos Orb. Not particularly profitable, but better than nothing. PoE Currency is famously hard to obtain, so in that particular case, no one will blame you for using boosting services. Same thing as with Arcanist’s Boxes, no one really knows at the moment if Divination Cards will be a thing in PoE 2. Our guess is that the system will remain but under another alliance. Or maybe cards will be replaced with some other type of collectible – a question or the future.

Path of Exile Chaos Orb was extremely difficult to obtain. The specific RNG percentage is still unknown but is rumored to be somewhere around 0.5 – 1% from every Unique enemy, which is less than unappealing. Players used to buy PoE Chaos Orbs from vendors in exchange for gear sets, and it’s still one of the most efficient ways of farming Chaos Orb currency, even if lengthy. Vendor recipes are also a great way to learn PoE 2’s crafting mechanics, if that’s worth anything.

In the original PoE Chaos Orb also can be found in chests and containers scattered around the Path of Exile world, but the chances to acquire Chaos Orb that way are even lower than from killing monsters. There are certain ways to influence the Chaos Orb RNG, though, even though we’re not sure if they’re going to be present in PoE 2:

1. Using Gear and Items with “Item Rarity” modifiers: self-explanatory. That +0.2% to loot rarity is still far from being an efficient way of finding Chaos Orb;
2. Chisels and Alchemy Orbs: these map modifiers can greatly increase item rarity on the map, making Chaos Orb slightly less of an irregular occurrence;
3. SC PC Settlers farm: obviously won’t be present in the second title, but still worth mentioning Apparently the latest PoE expansion content had a significantly higher chance of dropping Chaos Orb, although the truthfulness of this info is uncertain.

While we don’t know how Chaos Orb acquisition will work in PoE 2, we’re pretty certain that it’ll be far from easy. At least three other currencies are needed to maximize your DPS and survivability: Divine Orb, Exalted Orb, and Chaos Orb.
