WoW Horrific Visions
Horrific Visions is an activity that was introduced in patch 8.3. Players could complete them either alone or in a group of up to 5 people. Horrific Visions are battles with minions of N’zoth in a corrupted version of Stormwind or Orgrimmar. The main objective is to defeat the final boss. If you are confident in yourself, you can also kill the remaining bosses, but then the final boss will gain new abilities. After the victory, you will be teleported to the starting lobby, where chests with rewards will be waiting for you. The number of chests is equal to the number of defeated bosses during the Horrific Vision run.
Sanity System
Horrific Visions use a unique Sanity system, which you must always maintain above 0, otherwise you will be returned to the starting lobby and the attempt will be over. To maintain the Sanity level, you need to defeat opponents and complete special tasks.
In Horrific Visions Revisited, the Hourglass of Horrific Visions became the core of the sanity system. It became a replacement for the legendary cloak and Titanic Research Archive.
Horrific Vision Masks
You can increase the difficulty of Horrific Visions with faceless masks. When faceless masks are active, additional effects appear in Horrific Visions, hindering you during the completion of the activity or reducing the number of available deaths. The quality of the reward depends on the number of active faceless masks. In patch 11.1.5, there are 8 masks available. Below, you can see a list of them and their effects:
- Faceless Mask of the Long Night – Reduces Maximum Sanity by 50%.
- Faceless Mask of the Burned Bridge – Moving causes void zones to spawn in your path and drain Sanity if standing within them.
- Faceless Mask of the Daredevil – All Sanity damage caused by creatures is increased by 400%.
- Faceless Mask of the Pained – Each area will consist of 2 Madnesses (instead of 1).
- Faceless Mask of Dark Imagination – While below 50% sanity, occasionally, an enemy of the void will spawn and attack you.
- Faceless Mask of Vengeance – Killing enemies will bolster their nearby allies with Vengeance, increasing their damage done by 15% for 20 seconds. This effect stacks.
- Faceless Mask of the Nemesis – Your nemesis will spawn every 25 kills in a Horrific Vision. This nemesis is an Elite mob, has Sanity Breaker abilities, and awards Sanity via the Elite Extermination Tribute upgrade when killed.
- Faceless Mask of Multitudes – More enemies will be present through the Horrific Vision.
What’s new in the 11.1.5 patch
Horrific Visions Challenge has received several major updates that we already know about:
- Ability to bring a helper with you. Just like in delves, you can take a partner, Construct of Soridormi. The partner can be a tank, healer, or DPS.
- 3 new faceless masks. In patch 11.1.5, new masks with new effects will appear. Probably, the number of active masks will still affect the item level of your reward.
- Hourglass of Horrific Visions. This object combines the bonuses from the legendary cloak and the old Titanic Research Archive.
- New currency – Displaced Corrupted Mementos. You can buy both old and new rewards with this currency.
