Ammo Mods Upgrades are progress steps that improve how an Ammo Mod performs, mainly through the Augments system that enhances effects, durations, and bonuses. You start with the base mod, then research and equip Augments to push it to its best version.
Ammo Mods themselves unlock through progression (with Dead Wire available immediately, others unlocking later), and upgrades come from selecting the mod in Augments research and earning XP to unlock its Augments. The more you play and earn XP, the faster the research bar advances.
Ammo Mods add a chance for bullets to trigger special Zombies-only effects like stun fields (Dead Wire), slows (Cryo Freeze), burns (Napalm Burst), black-hole displacement (Shadow Rift), or temporary ally conversion (Brain Rot). They’re applied to weapons to increase crowd control and damage efficiency as rounds scale.
Official BO7 Zombies info lists six Ammo Mods at launch: Dead Wire, Cryo Freeze, Fire Works, Napalm Burst, Shadow Rift, and Brain Rot. Fire Works is the new addition in BO7.
You equip and change Ammo Mods at Arsenal Machines on the map. If you want to switch to a different mod mid-run, you must return to an Arsenal Machine to do it.
