How to Get the Bound Shadehound Mount

Bound Shadehound is a shadehound ground mount that requires completing hidden objectives and a lot of grinding in the Maw. This guide will walk you through the steps needed to obtain the mount.

  1. Purchase the Animated Levitating Chain and Stygia Dowser from Ve’nari in the Maw for 1050 Stygia and 1500 Stygia, respectively. However, please note that you must have an Appreciative reputation (42000/42000) with Ve’nari to be able to purchase these items.
  2. Collect 200 Stygia Dust and 200 Stygia Sliver by using the Stygia Dowser near Stygia Nexus.
  3. Head to the Stygia Delirium platform located at /way 24.0 75.5 and solve the rune puzzle to obtain the Crumbling Stele.
  4. Purchase the Partial Rune Codex for 2000 Stygia from Ve’nari and find all three Rune Codex Pages: Forging, Souls, and Binding.
  5. Combine the three Rune Codex Pages with the Partial Rune Codex to create the Intact Rune Codex.
  6. Defeat the rare creature Soulforger Rhovus to obtain the Soulforger’s Tools after fully translating the Intact Rune Codex.
  7. Use the Soulforger’s Tools to craft the Armored Husk at the Soulsteel Anvil using a total of 200 Stygia Dust, 200 Stygia Sliver, and the Soulforger’s Tools.
  8. Obtain the Willing Wolf Soul by approaching and interacting with a Stray Soul roaming around Gorgoa, the River of Souls.
  9. Go to the Binding Altar and combine the Armored Husk with the Willing Wolf Soul to create the Feral Shadehound.
  10. Use the Feral Shadehound to begin the Feral Shadehound quest and complete it to receive the Bound Shadehound.

Additional Information:

  • The Stygia Dowser allows you to track Stygia Nexus on the minimap and drain them to obtain Stygia , Stygia Sliver, and Stygia Dust.
  • Once you use your Stygia Dowser, you’ll be phased out and become a ghost, and a chest with six glowing runes will appear at the center of the platform. You can click on 2 of the glowing runes at a time to swap their positions around. To solve this puzzle, you need to pay attention to your surroundings – There are 6 spikes on the platform you’re on, and each spike will have a glowing rune on top of it. You need to order the runes near the chest to match the order of the spikes on the platform. Be careful, as you have limited attempts, and if you fail enough times, you will not be able to attempt the puzzle again for TWO HOURS. Once you match the runes with the pillars, the chest will open, giving you the Crumbling Stele. Once you obtain the Crumbling Stele, Ve’nari will have another item for sale – The Partial Rune Codex, for 1500 Stygia.
  • The Stray Soul can be found roaming around Gorgoa, the River of Souls, and will grant you the Willing Wolf Soul when approached and interacted with.
  • During the Feral Shadehound quest, you will need to use the provided item to summon the Feral Shadehound, mount it, and bind it to you by clicking on the four runes in the order shown in the completed Crumbling Stele.
  • Soulforger Rhovus doesn’t spawn during the Kyrian Assault, so you can’t get this drop until it’s over!
