Infernal Hordes are no joke and can easily overwhelm your hero without proper preparation. Mephisto has been preparing his forces from the shadows since the very first season, and it seems like we’re finally getting a taste of his abilities. Besides Infernal Hordes just being new content, there’s another great reason to play it – Spoils of Great Equipment. You can choose these as one of the rewards for completing the activity, and they always contain top-tier gear with Greater Affixes, which is the most effective way to realize your character’s full potential. Before we proceed to our Diablo 4 Infernal Hordes Boost, it’s advised to go through the walkthrough below to have a clear understanding of what’s ahead of you:

Spoils are a new type of reward available during the Infernal Hordes activity. There are 4 in total: Spoils of Equipment, Spoils of Greater Equipment, Spoils of Materials, and Spoils of Gold. All are pretty much self-explanatory in terms of their fillings. We do recommend focusing on the Greater Equipment one, though, since it has a guaranteed Greater Affix Item drop. You never know what class you’ll want to play tomorrow, or what changes Blizzard will introduce to your favorite build, so having at least a couple of Affix-induced sets or gear pieces is certainly a good thing. Keep in mind, though, that Spoils of Materials does contain the Abysall Scroll required to update the Infernal Compass.
Besides the core mechanism being completely different? Well, there’s that rogue-like component we’ve touched on previously. Basically, at some points between waves, you will be offered to pick Infernal Offers – powerful buffs that can change your run entirely. Since it’s Mephisto running things this time, these buffs come with a slight downside of, for example, enemy empowerment or damage buff to Elites. So a get some loose some type of situation. Infernal Offers can drastically change the way you play, adding some experimentation element into an otherwise usual PvE experience.
It’s the same thing as in the Helltides, really. Burning Aether is a special currency that can be obtained and spent only during the Infernal Hordes activity. After each successful Hoards run, you’ll be offered to spend all that Aether on one of the four categories of Spoils of Head, getting either equipment, greater equipment, materials, or Gold as a reward.
These are the puppeteers of the entire Mephisto invasion force and answer directly to the Lord of Hatred himself. You need to kill all five of them, preferably, which will take some time since only one spawns at the end of the Infernal Hordes run, and it’s random every time. Each drops a unique gear piece associated with this specific boss!
